I sent off my b-el and b-el madoromi/dozing faceplates off today. The estimated day of arrival is Tuesday. I got tracking on the package for my own piece of mind but I should have gotten insurance! I'll probably ask the aesthetic artist if i could pay her more to insure it on the way home but I'm probably just over reacting.
I also got the wigs and eyes i paid for the same day I paid for that August issue of Hobby Japan. It irritates me that the magazine isn't here as well, but that is probably because I want high resolution pictures of the Unoa Zero. No one else seems to have a scanner on DOA but me. (I'll be posting pictures of Esa in them within a few days, possibly tomorrow if I feel ok when I wakeup)
The eyelash tutorial that was in the September issue of Hobby Japan has been translated by the ever-useful, ever-darling Reiji and I'll repost that here when I have the time to. He was emailed the faceup tutorial for the Unoa Zero and hopefully whenever the August issue finally gets to me he'll help translate the assembly instructions as well.
I feel as if my doll photography has gotten worse. It is mostly because I rush it, which is mostly the fault that I've been working closing shifts in 5 days in a row marathons. My first off day I end up wasting by sleeping in all day, the next off day I end up having a few hours of fun just to have to get into that grind again of having to get ready for work the next day. Its hard to go to sleep as soon as I get home, and I am definately not an early bird. Seems like all I do is sleep and work...
I can also attribute it to the fact that only 2 of my dolls have a fully completed faceup. Gonbe and Esa.
Gonbe only has a few props, he's tiny and he's stark white. He comes out washed out in most of my photos. I have no idea how to properly take digital photos of something that is white without having to use a plain white bg for the contrast to not wash him out. I need to look up some photography pointers or start using my film camera.
Esa, I've taken plenty of pics of her, she has more pictures on this log than any other doll. She was on my header for a while and probably will go back on there since this layout is pretty but I wish I could customize it further. Also she isn't very versatile, even though she's awfully pretty. She also doesn't have her own wig or eyes, and I don't really have much to choose from in that department since I'm always rushing to save up for a preorder or layaway and can't take my time with doll purchases. I did manage to buy 2 pairs of eyes and a msd sized wig in the last 48 hours though so hopefully I can remedy at least that much.
Together... well they don't look so hot lol.
I'm not going to try to get more time off until I have enough for the Unoa Zero. I will be taking the 9th of next month off for my 2 month anniversary with the boy... which will be spent going to Ann Arbor to spend money on cute Japanese things, spending his money not mine of course, lol. I'll probably look for some re-ment for gonbe, or anything to scale with my dolls since as much as i love cute san-x stationary and japanese snacks I can't forget about my babies.
I try to stay away from the DOA Debate subforum since people get pretty heated and snappy about somethings even when it starts off as a light-hearted discussion.. but someone asked if dolls were to make up for something in your personal life... and I've been thinking very hard about it. I'll post my conclusion when I come up with one I guess.
I got some new doll clothes today! I ordered them from Aya22 on DOD from this thread. The clothes are made by her friend Airee from what I understand. I'll probably buy some more from hoodies from there, I don't like the skull and crossbones fabric but there is still some cute fabrics I want them to make my dolls clothes in.
They were made for u-noa size But I had to try the hoodie out on my baha. Its obviously oversized but it made for some cute pictures. Although I doubt you could ever go wrong with a baha!
I still have that mio shirt i order in the group order months ago. mio must really be backed up with her orders! I almost keep forgetting that I still haven't gotten it yet. I'm starting to save for another impossible doll, the U-Noa Quluts Zero... meaning I'll have to start buying SD sized clothes as well soon, well that depends if I actually can manage to get one. If I don't U-noa Cream or Mocha, or a 43cm Narae are my backup plans. At least they'd still be able to wear all the u-noa 1.5 clothes I own!
I consider this journal to be pretty "G" rated, but I do have some pictures that aren't so squeaky clean and I wondered if I should use my other abandoned vox to post those since I don't know how I could post them without filtering them, since I don't know who would want to read them or anything. I don't post my dolls having sex or anything, only artistic nudity but I was wondering if I should just post them there and tell anyone who is interested in seeing them to pop on over that way? I was also thinking of making a group on here for people who take more risky pictures of their ball jointed dolls and I wonder if it would be popular. There doesn't seem to be too many doll people here on VOX, either that or they just don't tag thier entries good enough for me to search and find them. I'm surprised by the lack of people I find when I type "unoa"or even "volks" seeing as I consider these dolls to be among the top of the popularity chart.
So I'll slowly be converting crime to my more mature picture posting log, it probably won't be used as much, seeing as I'll still be posting my incoming doll, wishlist, saving/waiting updates and general rants and tutorials here. I wish there was a way I could like hide certain parts of the post, like how livejournal has cuts, in which case I wouldn't have to juggle two journals but what can I say.
I avoided posting in the save/wait thread at DOA about my progress or lack there of, its easier to be in there supporting other people when you're not rushing to meet a deadline (the deadline for payment of the u-noa preorder is the 16th, Japan time).
I can't wait till the kit gets here, I feel like I can't do any photostories since all my dolls are of different sizes or they share bodies with other dolls. Ivoine and Jomi are SD sized, Ivoine (kill-u sp) is tanned and Jomi (seimei) is beauty white, so Jomi can't share Ivoine's tanned body and I have to get him his own. I do try to take pictures of Ivoine along with the u-noa (as the picture shows), but while standing up, they only come up to his waist and that looks horrible. Gonbe (pipos baha) is a tiny, so he'll probably come up to the waist/chest of the u-noa, but since he's a cat that will look ok. Until I get Gonbe, I only have 2 full dolls and 5 floating heads at home. I think its very possible I'll try to get another doll after Gonbe, and before Esa's body and default faceplate (not just a sleepy/orgasmic girl anymore!) get here. Most likely a 43cm Narae, since I was planning on getting one before the u-noa bug bit me. She'll be very expensive... seeing as I'm going to order the doll, classic faceplate (with a faceup by Kim Kyu Yuen, which will be 100+ extra), then another blank head, some wigs, and probably some clothes if there are any new tanya style clothes I like (and I'm a sucker for her style).
All my dolls still need wigs and eyes though, permanent ones. And option hands, too. This hobby is so expensive...
U-noa Lusis preorder will be paid off in full first thing tomorrow ($455 dollars!), then I have to forget about her until September. I still need eyes and a wig for her, but that will be no problem to knock out before then.
Still gotta pay off Gonbe (Pipos Baha), I still have plenty of time (about 4 months actually) on his layaway, but I'll pay a chunk of it next Tuesday when I get paid again. (still $250 to go on him unfortunately..)
I just commissioned MORE doll clothes, a cute Mickey Mouse hoodie and a cute white dress, will pay that off on Tuesdays as well. (another 45.50 including s&h from Sweden) After Gonbe, I'll be saving up for a 43cm Narae painted by Kim Kyu-Yuen.
Crescent Shop preorder: U-noa Lusis (Esa) $470 (saved $100 so far, 370 to go)
I'll be putting 50 more towards baha on Friday if all goes to plan. I'll have to make at least 185 after taxes for my next two paychecks to pay for Esa however. Wish me luck~
