Waiting for:
- the skirt and dress I ordered from Tanya style
- the wings I ordered from Moonueng to get finished (2-3 weeks from what it seems)
- the 3 shirts I ordered from airee to get finished (I manage to get her before 9/30 hiatus deadline)
- Unoa Lusis 1.5 kit
- Gen to finish the faceup on my Unoa Sist (I'm almost at the point of bugging her through PMs)
- Jules to finish the commission drawing for my unoa site
- Volks Cristal's glass eyes from Jenn
- Unoa Zero lottery results
Saving for:
- Gumdrops urethane eyes pre-order, which I might have to pass on till the next.
- the Momoko doll I'm going to put on layaway at junkyspot
- glass eyes group order I'm assembling (from this place)
- 43cm Narae with Kim Kyu-Yuen faceup (still leaning towards golden beige for skin color)
- an unoa light!? (the sekiguchi kind)
The doll cupid has hit me and I must have her! She's not even on the preorder list on my favourite pullip seller's store yet but when she is I'm preordering her, and paying in full.. (and then forgetting about her cause pullips have the most unreliable release dates ever)
Its probably because of the Evangelion movie that I've been hearing buzz about (but not really caring until it comes out on dvd and someone fansubs it). The theme music for it is being sang by Utada Hikaru and the song was mediocre at best, and I'm a Hikki fan. (at least I can admit when she does bad work though)
I had already been planning on doing Eva doll cosplay because one of my favorite unoa-owners had already done a b-el Kaoru and Sist Rei but now I want to go all out on the cosplay AND get the pullip. Next I'll probably be buying a blythe AND momoko... but lets hope not! (I'm already getting carried away with dreams of having two Unoa Zeros and impossible doll mods)
I-doloid Vista Core Mook (magazine-book) 330

went for sale on August 24th 2007
Words on the front:
60cmドールたちの狂想曲 (60cm dolls' rhapsody)
This magazine has a gravure (photo shoot) of the U-noa Quluts Zero Latea/Marion, about a 7 page spread from what I hear from a source that won't even buy the magazine. (The magazine consists mostly of love dolls and sex toys and things of that sort).
I will more than likely be placing an order for this magazine this weekend when I preorder Dollybird 9. Regardless of the fact that I have no use for the rest of the magazine I already bought 2 issues of Hobby Japan for the same reason, Unon info.
On Gentarou Araki's blog he says something to the effect that he wants people to buy his dolls and make them pretty, not necessarily the image he gives them but 'pretty'. I got the picture of the cover from his journal but the post the image was in context of was more about how he felt about the dolls in an emotion standpoint and not about the magazine, it was totally non-commercial more like from a hobbyist. I'm glad that his creations are more to him than dollar signs.
The translation for the assembly instructions has been going along slowly. And Reiji is still working on the faceup tutorial. He was quick with the eyelashes preparation/creation tutorial but I'm guessing the faceup tutorial has more jargon/technical terms.
I feel as if my doll photography has gotten worse. It is mostly because I rush it, which is mostly the fault that I've been working closing shifts in 5 days in a row marathons. My first off day I end up wasting by sleeping in all day, the next off day I end up having a few hours of fun just to have to get into that grind again of having to get ready for work the next day. Its hard to go to sleep as soon as I get home, and I am definately not an early bird. Seems like all I do is sleep and work...
I can also attribute it to the fact that only 2 of my dolls have a fully completed faceup. Gonbe and Esa.
Gonbe only has a few props, he's tiny and he's stark white. He comes out washed out in most of my photos. I have no idea how to properly take digital photos of something that is white without having to use a plain white bg for the contrast to not wash him out. I need to look up some photography pointers or start using my film camera.
Esa, I've taken plenty of pics of her, she has more pictures on this log than any other doll. She was on my header for a while and probably will go back on there since this layout is pretty but I wish I could customize it further. Also she isn't very versatile, even though she's awfully pretty. She also doesn't have her own wig or eyes, and I don't really have much to choose from in that department since I'm always rushing to save up for a preorder or layaway and can't take my time with doll purchases. I did manage to buy 2 pairs of eyes and a msd sized wig in the last 48 hours though so hopefully I can remedy at least that much.
Together... well they don't look so hot lol.
I'm not going to try to get more time off until I have enough for the Unoa Zero. I will be taking the 9th of next month off for my 2 month anniversary with the boy... which will be spent going to Ann Arbor to spend money on cute Japanese things, spending his money not mine of course, lol. I'll probably look for some re-ment for gonbe, or anything to scale with my dolls since as much as i love cute san-x stationary and japanese snacks I can't forget about my babies.
I try to stay away from the DOA Debate subforum since people get pretty heated and snappy about somethings even when it starts off as a light-hearted discussion.. but someone asked if dolls were to make up for something in your personal life... and I've been thinking very hard about it. I'll post my conclusion when I come up with one I guess.
Elected candidates will be noticed by a mail before September 11th.Shipping charge is 1000 yen. The shipments are intended around the end of September. For more details, please look at page 337.
I may or may not scan/post page 337, even if I did the deadline is only 5 days away. But at lease according to this the only difference of the Dollybird version is a box and outside of the shoes' color. Also the first owner photos and non-promotional glimpses of the Unon will be early November! I can't wait!
